Outside the lovely state capitol building is a wonderful little park area devoted to the Corps of Discovery. These statutes are: York, Lewis, Seaman the pup, Clark, and George Drouillard. I am completely charmed by the assorted bags and other small items the sculptor included all around the base of the statue - especially the goose Seaman has delivered to the group! (He was clearly an important part of the trip!)
Jefferson City has won awards for being a beautiful small town, and I can definitely see that - lots of green spaces, clean, lots of interesting historical sites. And the public library has a great computer lab in their basement! Their adult book club is focusing on science this summer, and I had a great time looking over their display of suggested reading.
