Although there has been a lot of other history here, this is famous in Lewis and Clark circles for being the spot where the entire Corps voted on where to move for their first winter on the road. Everyone got a vote - including Sacajawea (a woman) and York (a slave). Pretty momentous moment in American election history!
I'm just outside of Astoria, and came across the coolest bridge! Four miles long; the only similar one I've been on is Highway 1 in the Florida Keys. It's overcast and gloomy here, and 30 degrees cooler than Portland was for me yesterday! Luckily I have my warmer clothes close at had, so could drag them on easily.
